From President David Parker
Wow, it’s been a hot summer so far and plenty of opportunities to enjoy our
classic car hobby with others. The BRCC show had over 200 cars present and
an unprecedented number of awards presented. Music On Main kicked off its
season with classics lining Main Street every Friday night through August 19
(with the exception of July 8). We toured Ron Merker’s awesome garage and
then went to Budget Motors where David Brown let us pick through his inventory of car parts and collectibles. David is closing his business after 45
years in the car business. If you missed that tour you can call David at 828-
693-4297. Our next tours will be at Tom Loftfield’s and his buddy Max Larson
on July 16th. Then Parker-Binns winery for a wine tour and luncheon on July
23rd. You will see more details below in this newsletter. I hope you will join us
for our next monthly dinner meeting July 19 at Pop’s Diner. We’re pulling out
all the stops for this one. Come dressed in costume (period clothing to match
your ride) if you can. Prizes will be given for best costume and as I mentioned at our last meeting, a
prize for most referrals to our web site. Have a great summer and hope to see you soon.
Hope to see you soon,
David Parker

It was a fun filled meeting, June 21 at Bay Breeze.
Several new members were introduced (see photos on page 8), plus announcement of the tour to Parker-Binns
Vinyards. Tom Loftfield (Lucky Dog) entertained us with an explanation of why period dress enhances the viewing
experience with our old cars…using ladies’ attire from the early 20th century as an example, while we all watched
intently. Ralph Griffith also gave a presentation on his recent trip to Germany and the legendary Nurburgring racing and speed trials
course. Fascinating what goes on that we may
not be aware of. Ask Ralph about it next time
you see him! After a report on future activities
by David and our growing treasury by Colleen Mangeot, the meeting was adjourned.
And everyone reading this who have not attended a club meeting, you need to come out for a good time. The
next one, covered elsewhere, is at Pop’s Diner (also legendary) at 5-corners, north of downtown Hendersonville.
All the info on that meeting is also in this newsletter. Come on out and have some fun!
Come prepared to have some fun!

can—dress in the era of your

prizes…plus who can beat
